Fabulous independent book shop over 3 querky sites. Have never seen anywhere filled to the brim with so many books! Well displayed.Only gripe is when we were shopping in the main site the young lady didnt acknowlege us. Such a pity! When we came to pay she was polite & processed the transaction. However as soon as we entered the pop up christmas shop we warmly greeted. This makes such a difference to shopping. It also warns any shoplifters that you've seen them!
A lovely, lovely place. Our first visit, but (despite the distance from home) we will be back. Be sure not to miss the upstairs! Comfortable chairs, books well organised, and lots of nice touches everywhere all combine to make it a relaxing and really pleasant place to be. The people who run it are knowledgeable and very friendly, and go out of their way to help customers (we were there for quite a while and observed this). An absolute gem. On a practical level, there is a free car park about a minute's walk away, and excellent tea rooms etc. nearby.
This is a truly special place. I always find something exciting to read in this small but beautifully arranged bookshop because the choice of books is so inspired. This is where the traditional bookshop can really beat the online sellers because you can browse and discover absorbing books that you would never have considered otherwise. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate and they are doing a brilliant job with community and school projects too.
A fantastic selection of literature. A treasured place. So much more than a bookshop. Visit it! You wont be disappointed.
